A meditation timer is a great tool to develop the habit of meditation, adding it to your meditation tools can be a great way to become a great meditator.

As with everything worth your effort it requires a way to learn how to convert it into a habit, and doing it on periodic frames of time can be of great help.

That’s why a meditation timer can make all the difference. Let’s see some of the benefits of timing your meditation:

Helps you to get the habit: defining an exact time for meditation can be of great help, this helps you to commit to your practice at least for that period of time. With a timer you can decide how long will be your session and commit to not open your eyes until the timer sounds.

Helps you to explore more: sometimes you can choose not to finish after your allocated time. For example you decide to meditate for 15 minutes, but when the timer sounds, you decide to meditate for an additional 15 minutes.

You can program your timer so it sounds every 15 minutes, it can be a short beep so it doesn’t distract you. On the long term this can help you to extend your practice effortless.
